The Rocket Man Rockets to the top of the Charts

If the biography movie Rocket Man didn’t boost his already epic songs, his latest venture into collaborations will.   The collaboration between Elton John, Dua Lipa, and PNAU (the Australian dance music trio), despite the pandemic, has landed a number one on chart topper songs the first week and a number two spot the next. If you haven’t heard it, you’ve got to check it out. It’s the perfect mashup of his own songs with a Pop flair.  According to official charts.com, “The mash-up collaboration reaches the peak with 64,000 chart sales, including 5.9 million streams and 5,000 copies on limited edition CD single. It marks Elton John’s eight number 1 single in the UK and first for 16 years, since his feature on 2Pac’s posthumous 2005 single Ghetto Gospel.” There’s no stopping this icon of music.

Pandemic Ain’t Slowin’ Elton Down

During the pandemic lockdown, the idol of music returned to the roots of his musical journey, working with a variety of artists. He said roughly other musicians might feel working with many different artists is chaotic, but “I [have] come full circle.” His new album, The Lockdown Sessions, kicks off with the glacial UK No. 1 single “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix),” a disco-pop duet with Dua Lipa using lyrics from his previous songs, “Rocket Man,” “Where’s the Shoorah?,” “Kiss the Bride,” and “Sacrifice.”

This new album looks to be a buffet of the best. He has joined forces with a vast array of musical artists. Including but not limited to: Lil Nas X, Brandi Carlile, Dua Lipa, Eddie Vedder, Miley Cyrus and Glen Campbell,” check this out. His 16 collaborative tracks have something for everyone.

Not All Collaboration Goes Smoothly Though

If that’s not enough, an up comping 2021 Christmas collaboration is somewhere underway despite his duet partner’s blunder. “[Elton John] 74, had been hoping to keep their new Christmas duet a secret until it was ready to be released, but Sheeran, 30, recently made the announcement on Dutch radio station NPO Radio 2 without consulting his duet partner.” Elton John was sworn to secrecy and Ed’s “big mouth” (as Elton called it) ruined the surprise. However, I can’t imagine how it could ruin it. After his latest collaboration, “Cold Heart,” topped the charts, news of more songs would only increase curiosity and anticipation.
