Fans of pop singer, Dua Lipa, were anxiously awaiting her sophomore album, Future Nostalgia, however the wait was cut shorter than anticipated when she announced the album would be released early. While fans were happy to have the album early, Lipa emotionally explained that due to a leak, she felt forced to release her project sooner than she initially intended.

Future Nostalgia was due to release on April 3, however the release date was ultimately on March 27. Lipa took to Instagram Live to explain the circumstances when she broke down into tears.

Lipa explained that due to greater issues impacting the world, she felt uncomfortable displaying her true feelings regarding her album’s leak.

“I’ve been a little bit conflicted about whether it’s the right thing to do during this time because lots of people are suffering,” she said.

“I’m not sure if I’m even doing the right thing,” she continued.

“But I think the thing we need the most at the moment is music, and we need joy and we need to be trying to see the light. I hope it makes you smile and I hope it makes you dance and I hope I make you proud.”

Like many other artists, Lipa also announced that her world tour would have to be postponed due to growing health and safety concerns surrounding the caronavirus.

“I tried to hold out for as long as possible but I can see that, at the moment, things aren’t changing and for the safety of everyone around us, we really need to be careful and cautious,” said the star.

She added that new dates for the UK and European legs of the tour would be published on Tuesday, and all tickets would be honoured for the eventual new dates.

Despite the drama surrounding her album’s release the project, which channels a strong 80s influence, was met with critical acclaim and has also been received well by fans.

Currently, Lipa has also released music videos for the singles, “Physical,” “Break My Heart” and “Don’t Start Now.”
