The tables turned for talk show host Wendy Williams, known for her comedic commentary on the lives of celebrities, when news broke that she was in the process of divorcing her husband, Kevin Hunter. After weeks of silence, Williams has finally commented on the status of her relationship.

Williams had yet to speak publicly about her husband or the rumors surrounding him, until May 14, on her talk show “The Wendy Williams Show.”

“I am working on my divorce, pleasantly right now,” Williams said.

Williams explained that she has left her home in New Jersey and moved to an apartment in New York. She stated that now she goes out frequently and is enjoying her newly single life.

Williams went on to say that she doesn’t have a boyfriend, but “I am rediscovering my love of men.” She continued, saying that she is dating frequently.

Prior to this announcement Williams took a two month hiatus in which she had different guests host “The Wendy Williams Show” in her place. After her return many speculated that the reason behind William’s break was due to her marital issues. Upon returning to her talk show on March 4, Williams explained that her absence was necessary to improve her health, sharing her experience with Graves’ disease as well as her struggle with substance abuse.

In response to rumors regarding her marriage, specifically Hunter’s alleged affair, Williams said, “I’m still very much in love with my husband. I’m still wearing my ring.”

In early April, rumors leaked that Williams had officially filed for divorce from her husband of 21 years after it surfaced that Hunter and his girlfriend, Sharina Hudson, had a baby. Williams confirmed for the first time on her talk show, on April 15, that the news was true.

Hunter gave a statement to E! News on April 16, stating, “I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans. I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs.”

Hunter went on to say that he would continue support Williams in her business as well as her sobriety, asking the public to please respect their family’s privacy.

Williams also said on her talk show, that for those concerned, Hunter and Williams’ charity organization, The Hunter Foundation, will dissolve, and Williams will instead involve herself in other charitable causes in the future.

Williams later commented on the controversy surrounding her marriage by referring to a common phrase used by her and her audience: “their business is our business.”

She joked, “it’s so crazy, because now my business is your business.”
