While ringing in the new year brings in lots of uncertainties like broken resolutions and new diets, one thing we can always depend on are new movies and tv shows. 2023 promises some great cinema, from sequels to prequels and brand-new tv shows for us to binge-watch. Here are a few of the most anticipated movies and shows of the new year.

M3GAN

On January 6th one of the most talked about movies of 2022 will be released. M3GAN is a thriller horror movie about a lifelike doll that was designed to act as a child’s perfect companion. However, when the brilliant scientist, Gemma, brings her M3GAN prototype home for her niece things quickly go south. The robotic doll does what most robots do in movies, and turns against Gemma, played by Allison Williams, and her niece Cady, Played by Violet Mcgraw. While this isn’t a very groundbreaking movie premise, Williams and Mcgraw have both starred in some pretty great thrillers in recent years and certainly promise titillating performances if nothing else.

Your Place or Mine

Two American sweethearts, Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon team up for their new movie Your Place or Mine, which will be released on February 10th. Debbie and Peter are lifelong best friends who live on opposite sides of the country. Debbie thrives in her strict LA lifestyle with her teenage son, while Peter enjoys the fast-paced lifestyle of the Big Apple. However, they find that the lives they became so accustomed to might not be what they need when they switch houses for a few weeks, making this the perfect new year movie ensuring the audience will resonate with the changes Kutcher and Witherspoon go through in this film.

Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches

On January 8th amc+ will bring to life the vision of one of the greatest American writers, Anne Rice. Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches follows the story of a neurosurgeon turned witch Rowan Fielding played by Alexandra Daddario. Fielding’s new discovery of her witchy roots means that she must battle with the generational hauntings that have followed her with a witch-filled family. This New Orleans-based series includes everything from witches to evil spirits and the genius of Anne Rice’s incredible writing, this new series is sure to reignite our love for everything witchy this winter season.

Ant-man and The Wasp: Quantumania

All of our favorite characters will be returning to the big screen including Scott, Hope, Hank, and Janet, all using their scientific discoveries and expertise to save the world. The world has been waiting since 2018 to see the next adventure taken on by this little crew, the original release date of 2021 had to be altered due to covid and filming issues. However, we now only have a few more months to wait until we see our beloved Paul Rudd on the big screen again.
