After nearly seven years of marriage, Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian West is reportedly preparing to file for a divorce from her husband Kanye West— according to Page Six and People.
The couple, who went pubic with their relationship back in 2012, have four children together: North West, Saint West, Chicago West, and Psalm West. However, sources who are close to the couple claim that they have been living very separate lives recently.
The pair have made headlines numerous times throughout their marriage, particularly during Kanye West’s controversial presidential bid last year— which many believe might have been the final straw in the relationship for Kim Kardashian West.
During the campaign, Kanye revealed very personal information about his family on Twitter and during rallies— to the dismay of his wife. At one point, West disclosed that he and his wife had considered aborting their first child, North. A disclosure that Kim was publicly furious about.
Throughout their tumultuous marriage, Kim has stood by her husband—even as his behavior became increasingly erratic over the years. Kanye, who has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, has oftentimes made headlines for his odd Tweets and outbursts. After an incident last summer, Kim addressed the diagnoses and asked for compassion. “Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand,” she stated in a lengthy Instagram story, according to People.
However, it appears as though her patience has run out as of late. As multiple sources who are close with the pair have confirmed that divorce is inevitable at this point. “He knows that she’s done. She has had enough, and she told him that she wants some space to figure out her future,” one source told People. “He’s okay. He’s sad, but okay. He knows the inevitable will happen, and he knows that it’s coming soon.”
Even though the separation has been announced, Kim has not yet filed for the divorce. According to E! News, she is waiting to make sure that she is making the right decision for her kids, the youngest of which turns 2 in May. “He’s on very thin ice with her right now, and she’s truly trying to decide what to do to protect the kids, but also her own sanity,” a source told People. “The whole thing is discouraging and difficult for her.”
