Over the course of the past week, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt has been battling the backlash which he has received following a controversial Instagram post which he made about his wife, Katherine Shwarzenegger. In the post, the actor thanked his wife for giving him a “gorgeous healthy daughter.” Fans were quick to point out that Chris Pratt’s 9 year old son through his first marriage to Anna Faris has been suffering from health problems due to his premature birth, and many thought that the post was demeaning and rude.

While most of the criticism has been centered around the way in which he described his daughter, the Dawson’s Creek actress has now acknowledged the odd rhetoric that he used to describe his wife, arguing that the post seemed to “acknowledge” the power which he seemed to hold in their relationship by “patronizing” his wife.

Busy Philipps called out the actor in an episode of her podcast, Busy Philipps is Doing Her Best. In the podcast, she explained that the language which he used was disingenuous and seemed to objectify his wife. She then went on to explain: “Holy s—t! Either like you’re the dumbest mothef—ker on Earth, or you’re a real righteous a—hole.” Busy Philipps allegedly was friends with the actor back when he was married to his first wife, Anna Faris, and apparently even went on a vacation with the two of them back when she was pregnant with his son.

While Chris Pratt has yet to acknowledge this latest criticism of his character, he has already responded to the backlash pertaining to the Instagram post itself. Last Friday, the Marvel actor shared on his Instagram story that the comments had made him “depressed.” However, he then went on to state that he used Christian music and outdoor exercise to brighten his mood. “I knew that if I put on my Christian music playlist, and I got out of the woods and ran that I’d feel better, but I just didn’t want to,” he stated, “I did it anyways and, gosh, was I right. It felt amazing. I got out of the woods, got my blood pumping.”

Chris Pratt has also had other people come to his defense, including Maria Shriver, Chris Pratt’s mother in law. In an Instagram post over the weekend Shriver stated: “I love you Chris, keep being your wonderful self, rise above the noise. Your kids love you, your family loves you and your wife loves you. What a beautiful life, I’m proud of you xo.” Regardless though, it seems as though Chris Pratt might need to continue to do damage control to try and save his reputation. Seeing as the actor rose to prominence playing the fun-loving character of Andy on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation, fans kind of expect the same type of behavior from the man himself. And in this day and age, it seems as though once the public turns on a once beloved celebrity it becomes very difficult to change everyone’s mind.
