Germona: Please introduce yourself to the Level21 subscribers who may not know who you are!

B.Me: My name is B.Me. I am the Bodacious one. If you don’t know what “Bodacious” means… look it up.

Germona: What in your personal life has influenced you to choose your career?

B.Me: I went through a lot of things as a child and had to grow up extremely fast. So, initially, I wanted to share my story with the world, to let them know that anything is possible — regardless of your circumstances, you have to keep yourself stimulated. Decisions determine your destiny, not circumstances. And, I wear many, many hats outside of just rapping. I just knew I was chosen since I was little, so now, my goal is to reach the people. My purpose goes beyond music… This is just the surface.

Germona: Do you think that creativity involves putting your heart and soul into your work? Or is it more like letting your mind flow freely to witness the surprising results of your actions?

B.Me: I think it can be both. Personally, for me, my creativity involves me putting my thoughts and feelings and being satisfied with the masterpiece I created. Honestly, I’m often surprised by my creativity because I’m really top-tier with what I create — from vocal adjustments, to new signature adlibs, to revising my lyrics… a masterpiece cannot be rushed. It’s passion.

Germona: What do you do to keep yourself motivated and interested in your work?

B.Me: As far as music, I have to remember my why, for why I started in the first place. I’m an unstoppable, bad mf. Consistency is only a portion of remaining motivated. You really have to have a passion for what you’re doing. It’s not that music is my passion, but being creative behind it all is. My creativity behind styling and new looks, rebranding/evolving, being in character on-set, animating my voice while I switch up my flow.

Germona: Were you ever discouraged? If so, how did it affect your creativity?

B.Me: Yes… but not necessarily in music. I am my only competition, so when I don’t meet the expectations I have for myself, I become discouraged. Emotional paralysis is the worst, but I constantly remind myself of my WHY, so it keeps me stimulated to do what I need to do in order to keep walking in my purpose.

Germona: I’ve seen that you usually have some dope people behind the scenes helping you with the brand that is B. Me. How do you determine the team that ultimately helps to create the powerhouse we see and hear?

B.Me: I determine my team by the people who genuinely want to see me do great, and I make sure I reciprocate and feed back into my people. I wouldn’t be as great as I am without my mentors and coaches who never gave up on me, without The Dimes… my supporters for consistently keeping me focused on my WHY, without the people who push me & sit with me in the studio & don’t mind telling me, “Nah B. That ain’t it.” — I personally don’t determine my team; I’m super observant about who is present with me and being involved in my journey. That’s what creates the powerhouse that I’m able to deliver. That’s what makes me a bad mf.

Germona: What advice would you give to someone wanting to start their musical journey?

B.Me: First, ask yourself if you are doing this for a hobby, to explore your passion, or if you want to approach it as a business. A lot of people get in this rap game looking to gain something from it… whether that’s a sense of fulfillment, mastering a skill, a record deal, validation/approval. Make sure you ask yourself what is your reason, and explore the impact that you’ll gain from being in the music journey.

Germona: Who are some of B. Me’s favorite/influential artists? (indie or mainstream)

B.Me: Definitely, the MUVA, Nicki Minaj. She’s had a huge influence on my creativity and rap animation. A lot of people credit her just because she’s a long-standing female artist. For me, I’ve been told by many that I embody her character… and that’s the only compliment I need because it clearly shows in my music… lol. Another artist is Drake. He’s extremely versatile, like me. And he makes all types of music. I resonate with his artistry a lot because I would get bored staying in the same lane. His flow, versatile topics/moods, rebranding of imagery, involvement in multiple genres… it’s what separates him from other rappers, which is why he is the GOAT to this day.

Germona: What is the best advice that you have been given?

B.Me: Reassure yourself. And remain authentic to attain your best self. Do not focus on the destination, but simply enjoy the process of walking the journey.

Germona: Is there any work coming up you would like to promote and let everyone know about?

B.Me: Well, I just dropped 2 new music videos that I shot in L.A. I flew my videographer out, and we worked our magic in the desert out there for “Slaughter Ya Daughter”… It was mad dope because I’m used to switching up looks, but not switching up 3 different character roles to act out a storyline. It was definitely a movie, literally — if you watch the plot of the video. The PRESSURE music video dropped shortly after that, which is one of my most empowering singles.
