One of Charlotte’s newest vegan food trucks, Romeo’s vegan burgers, has attracted lines so long they have been forced to relocate.

Romeo’s Vegan Burgers is a Charlotte-based vegan food truck that is taking Queen City by storm. The food truck opened up in November and it has already become one of the hottest places to eat in town. With most restaurants struggling due to the pandemic, the food truck’s popularity was a big surprise.

“The first day we opened our doors, we had one client walk up,” said co-owner and rapper, Monty “Tigo B” Faulkner. “Then, another one. Then, a line started to form, and ever since the first day, the lines have continuously gotten longer and longer. It’s definitely been somewhat overwhelming trying to meet the demand but all in all, it’s something we enjoy.”

In fact, the popularity of Romeo’s has led to them being forced to relocate due to the long lines they attract. After just a few months of being in business, the co-owners, rapper Tigo B and his manager, Lamont Heath, are ready for a more permanent place and loyal customers waiting for the truck to show up in their area couldn’t be happier. Tigo B told us, “Our goal is to essentially become the vegan McDonald’s.”

With Charlotte’s lack of plant-based fast-food options, when Romeo’s opened its doors or window, Charlotte-based vegans were quick to line up. Being vegans themselves, Faulkner and Heath knew how difficult it was to find good vegan restaurants so they made it their mission to create their own.

“We weren’t really finding vegan spots in North Carolina,” The Charlotte-based rapper said. “With Charlotte being such a bustling city we thought bringing a comfort food option here would work and it has.”

Romeo’s offers a wide variety of vegan burgers, wraps, plant-based shakes. Although Romeo’s is strictly vegan, plenty of carnivores have shown them love. These popular burgers are made using all the vegan favorites, Beyond Meat and Impossible patties, Follow Your Heart cheese, house-made sauces; and milkshakes made with soy-based ice cream; Sounds like a really great food for a hangover.

If you are looking for black owned business to support, or simply looking for a more sustainable option, Romeo’s Vegan Burgers is the perfect place to get it all.
