On Thursday, June 15, Project Runway returned with its monumental 20th season, bringing back fourteen cherished designers for a chance at a career-defining victory on Project Runway All-Stars. Among these luminaries stands Korto Momolu, a beloved contestant who initially made her mark in season 5, securing the prestigious first runner-up title. With her distinctive vision and exceptional designs, Korto later showcased her prodigious talent in Lifetime’s Project Runway All-Stars season 3, once again leaving an indelible impression as a runner-up. Throughout her illustrious career, Korto has crafted breathtaking ensembles for esteemed clients such as Mary Steenburgen, Jill Scott, and Miss Universe Leila Lopes.

Originating from Liberia, West Africa, and now residing in Little Rock, Arkansas, Korto draws inspiration from her African heritage, infusing her creations with vibrant hues that radiate confidence. Her designs cater to women of all shapes and sizes, empowering them to embrace their individuality with grace and poise. Korto’s contributions to the fashion world extend beyond her awe-inspiring garments, including her eco-friendly jewelry line featured at Smithsonian Museum stores, her design of uniforms for the Walton family’s esteemed Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and her role as the Cheerios’ ambassador for the Shoprite Partners in Caring “Knock Out Hunger” campaign. Moreover, Korto has dedicated her time and talents to numerous charitable and philanthropic endeavors, leaving an indelible mark on both the industry and society.

In the fall of 2019, Korto collaborated with Women Grow, an organization committed to promoting female leadership in the Cannabis industry. Together, they presented the groundbreaking Korto Momolu for Women Grow line at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020 shows, featuring sustainable fabrications such as hemp and cork. This bold collection showcased Korto’s unwavering dedication to merging fashion with environmental consciousness, setting a new standard for innovation in the industry.

Although the pandemic temporarily disrupted her appearances on the esteemed New York Fashion runway, Korto is now preparing an eagerly anticipated collection to mark her triumphant return during the Spring/Summer 2023 season in New York City.
