Level21 Media attended “The Experience” fashion show on Oct. 9. The event was hosted by Kitty and Rhodes to preview its newest S/S 22 Collection, showcasing silhouettes signature to the designer alongside the latest “everyday” pieces from their collaboration with Shein. The evening of fashion and art doubled as an effort to spread awareness about sickle cell and how it affects Black Americans. Kitty and Rhodes donated a portion of proceeds to the Piedmont Health Services and Sickle Cell Agency.

“I wanted to call this fashion show “The Experience” because I really felt as though it was more than just a runway show,”
Kitty and Rhodes designer Jasmine T. Rhodes told Level21. “I was inviting the audience into the mind of Jasmine and showing them my creative process on a small scale. Many times, I will be on a long drive somewhere, listening to music, and as I am listening to a particular song I am imagining a runway show happening. Thus, a new collection is born.”
True to the origin of the collection, music and art played a large part in the evening. The show featured live music from up-and-coming artist Autumn D, an opening dance number choreographed by LeDarius Parker, and celebrity photographer Nikon Don’s new digital art collection, titled “Rarefied Tastes.”

Level21 sat front-and-center for “The Experience,” where Twenty One TV season 4’s correspondent Dominique Denise entertained the crowd hosting the show along with producer Leonard DeShield. Several big names in the fashion industry were also in attendance, including Antwonn Gathers of Carolina Classic Hair & Fashion, Kelly Cunningham of The Fashion Haus and Danville Fashion Week, and celebrity designer Stevie Boi.

The evening, overall, was a tremendous success.
“With all of the ups and downs that have occurred with the pandemic, it was nice to take a moment to celebrate the wins in life,” said Rhodes. “Whether it was my recent brand collaboration with Shein or landing a new job in the corporate world with Centric Brands, ‘The Experience’ was a toast to being alive and being grateful for the journey of life.”
