It’s official, supermodel Gigi Hadid and musician Zayn Malik are expecting their first child together. The on again, off again couple were planning to keep the news under wraps, but after rumors spread, Hadid confirmed to the public that the news was true.
Hadid and Malik began dating in 2015 and eventually split in March 2018. Since then, rumors circulated of the two splitting and getting back together, however the two were spotted together, most recently, in January and were reportedly back on.
Fans of the couple noted that on Valentine’s day, Hadid posted a photo of Malik from December captioned, “HEY VALENTINE … Z on the farm,”suggesting they were once again official.
As of now, Hadid and Malik have been staying together at the Hadid family’s Pennsylvania farm during the coronavirus lockdown.
Hadid appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and announced that she and Malik are expecting. “Obviously we wish we could have announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support,” Gigi said. “We’re happy now to be able to be excited. Especially during this time it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together and really experience it day by day.”
Fallon told Hadid, “It was a ray of sunshine that we all needed.” He continued, “I will tell you this, tons of people will give you advice and say ‘oh they grow up so fast, enjoy it.’ I don’t wanna be that person, because they are kind of right. But don’t overdo it, just be present for every part of it.”
Hadid revealed that throughout her pregnancy so far, a particular craving of her’s inspired the cake for her 25th birthday, which she recently celebrated. “My craving has been everything bagels,” she said. “I eat an everything bagel everyday, and so I was already like, so excited that my birthday cake was the everything bagel.” She told Fallon that the baker of her cake was in fact Cake Boss’ Buddy Valastro, who she is a huge fan of.
Hadid was congratulated by several fellow celebrities, however she was also congratulated by her ex, star of the Bachelor, Tyler Cameron. While being interviewed on ESPN West Palm, Cameron said, “I am excited for her, I am happy for her. She is going to be an incredible mother.” He continued, “She’s a caring, sweet person and she’s going to be amazing.”
As for Hadid’s future in the fashion industry, Hadid spoke with i-D magazine, in February this year. She told the publication, “I think that as I get older… well one day I’ll start a family, and I don’t know if I will always be modeling. I love the creative side of fashion, it’s so fulfilling. The people I work with make me so happy, I’m so lucky to be around them. But who knows? Maybe I’ll take up full time cooking!”
Hadid is reportedly 20 weeks along and is expecting a girl.
