In a popular YouTube video posted by AsapSCIENCE, they gave us their take on what the future may hold for the human race.

While the video makes no mention of the typical predications, such as flying cars or time traveling, the narrator does note the possibility of tiny robots called nanobots, which will be placed in human bodies to enhance their capabilities. This idea is known as transhumanism, whereby humans are essentially transcending their current physical and mental abilities with the help of science and technology. With these tiny robots inside the human body, the immune system, physical strength, and brainpower will all be increased by an unimaginable degree.

He also mentions genetic mutations, which are an already naturally occurring phenomenon. He suggests, though, that humans may mutate to have a new eye color, the ability to consume and digest pretty much anything, or other interesting abilities that are unique to individuals or certain groups of people (like running at high speeds or superhuman strength.)

Even artificial selection, which we are hearing about even now, will be perfected before the next millennium, according to the video. On the other hand, while some people will favor the idea of selecting their child’s genes, if everyone genetically modified their babies in similar ways, this will likely lead to the evolution of a disease that can lead to the end of humanity since there would be virtually no variation in our genetic makeup.

Whether you believe in these ideas or not, it is certainly intriguing to imagine what the future will hold for the human race in 1000 years. With technology advancing at its current rate, the world could see some huge changes in merely 100 years.
