Nicki Minaj was not allowed to perform with 6ix9ine at the MTV VMAs
“When I know somebody, there’s nothing you can tell me about them”
It was recently reported that 6ix9ine could face up to three years in prison should he be found guilty of sexual exploitation of a child plus additional assault charges. The rapper is set to face court on October 2 after violating an earlier plea deal.
“I was going to give the Cocksucker of the Day Award to Charlamagne but what he said was real,” she said on Beats 1’s Queen Radio. “He said I was being a sore winner and I need to be grateful.”
She continued: “I wanted Tekashi [6ix9ine] to perform with me at the VMAs, but somewhere along the lines he did not get approved by the powers that be. When I know somebody, there’s nothing you can tell me about them.”
The MTV VMAs saw Minaj take home the award for ‘Best Hip Hop Video’ for ‘Chun-Li’. See the full winners’ list here.
In 2015, 6ix9ine pleaded guilty to using a child in a sexual performance. In a video he posted online, 6ix9ine was seen stood behind a 13-year-old girl as she performed oral sex.
The show also saw Minaj deliver scathing outbursts against Travis Scott.
“What we’re not gonna do is have that Auto-Tune man selling fucking sweaters telling you he sold half a million albums, because he fucking didn’t. You stupid fuck. You got your fucking homeboy talking for you and you got your girlfriend selling tour passes. Stop it. Knock it the fuck off.”
“When [Travis] comes along and sells a tour pass that has nothing to do with his fucking music and says he’s sold more than Kanye West and Nas—no you fucking didn’t, keep it the fuck real. I know I’m that bitch, I know I’m Number One.”
“Do you know record companies are in business with these streaming services? An artist signs a 360 [contract] and all their music pretty much goes to their label. … Most artists have no fucking clue, most artists do not read their contracts, most artists do not have a clue what is happening.”
