The Jungle Is The Only Way Out: Daze of Future Fashion Redefines Poetry in Motion

Last weekend, Daze of Future Fashion Show Volume III lit up Gotham GSO in Greensboro, NC, with a bold statement on how nature meets futurism. Presented by Museeya Grand Planning, The Jungle Is The Only Way Out served as the theme and the third installment for DOFF. This event held up to its promise to redefine poetry in motion while challenging fashion lovers to amplify their voice through their outfits. On the runway, emerging designers Nica Knits, Head Designs, Sanzia Sews, and Urban Midriff offered a spectrum of interpretations that stayed true to the jungle-inspired concept.

The night went on smoothly as the host provided the necessary light and cheerfulness needed to the ambience that couldn’t go overlooked. The phrase “hostess with the mostess” is what I would use to describe the M.C. Her energy makes you believe she was born for the job. It wasn’t enough to just announce the next presentation, she went all out making sure the guests felt apart of the show. She asked them questions and urged for their input in a real live setting. It was refreshing to see the passion outside of the fashions.

The DJ spun deep cuts on top of an upbeat tempo to where you couldn’t help but do a little 1-2 step. Many of us creatives caught ourselves doing a little jig before the show started as the music was infectious. The night was a nice reminder on how important community is to the nourishment of success. It’s those people who show up during the journey that makes it all worth it. Not only that, the best in creativity is not always on tv or in the magazines. Most of the times, its your neighbor or your friend’s friend niece who has innumerable talent that cannot be compared. Its the passionate creatives who are all involved in highlighting these talents that make the industry what it is. DOFF Volume III kept its promise by turning fashion into a statement of identity. The jungle-meets-future mood stayed with guests after the show, encouraging designers and wearers to think about how clothes express who they are now and in the future.

My favorite part of the show would be the designer competition. Each designer had the opportunity to save their best look for last so the audience could applaud for their favorite. Similar to the famous broadcasted, Showtime at the Apollo, with a fashion twist. The official voting took place on instagram as guests were urged to cast their votes through the organizer’s IG story. It was a clever way to foster friendly competition while directing the audience to their socials.

Overall, I am looking forward to the next event. It was something that stood out and makes me hungry for more.
